    Default 2nd Saturday Ride March 10, 2018

Hello AlaBeemers! This month we will have a couple different scheduled rides. This will be the first of a series with a concerted effort to have more than one ride on any given Saturday. While everyone is encouraged to get out and ride, we will continue to try and offer new and different riding possibilities.

For the Central AlaBeemers, Bruce Wheatley will lead us from Edgar's Bakery at the Colonnade in Birmingham to The Shack BBQ Restaurant in Talladega. He will take us there by way of wonderful back roads and the “Pig Trail” to Mt. Cheaha. Sidestands up at 8 am with a full tank and an empty bladder.

Our first stop for a break is at the Mt. Cheaha Store (95 miles) and we will stop again for fuel at the Chevron in Talladega (136 miles) before arriving at The Shack BBQ Restaurant for lunch at 12:50 pm + -. The round trip distance is 189 miles and we should complete our ride at the Raceway Station on US 280 @ Hwy 119 before 3:30 pm. The AccuWeather forecast calls for cloudy skies and a high of 62*.

This is going to be a great ride over Alabama's highest mountains.

Here are the important facts about the ride to The Shack BBQ:

    2nd Saturday RTE 03/10/18
Our destination will be The Shack BBQ (7744 Stemley Bridge Rd, Talladega, AL 35160)
We will depart from Edgar' Bakery (3407 Colonnade Parkway Birmingham, AL 35243), stands up at 8:00am.

For the South Central AlaBeemers, Brian Hinton will lead us from Starbucks at Eastchase Parkway (Shoppes at Eastchase Montgomery) to The Rabbit Hole in Elba, AL (90 miles).

After lunch, we will stop again for sweet treats at Dolce Pastry Shop (78 W Ct Square, Troy, AL 36081). The round trip distance is 170 miles and we should complete our ride back at Starbucks before 3:30 pm.

Thanks Bruce for planning and leading our ride Saturday 10th. The route was excellent and so was the BBQ at The Shack. It was a pleasant surprise to see that the "Pig Trail", Cheaha Rd., to Mt. Cheaha is in good condition.

Thanks also to Martin for planning and leading last month's RTE to Ezell's and the Pie Lab. A great ride as well.

Martin will also lead our April RTE to the Rattlesnake Saloon. Details coming soon.
