I'm looking forward to the Rally, it will be my first time. I have recruited a new member for the club and he will accompany me to the rally. His name is Jay Estes. He is riding an R1150 GS. He is a fairly new member to the MOA and a very new member to the Alabama Club. He has been riding his GS for about a year after a short period with a R1100S. He also rides dual sport with a KTM 450 EXC. We rode to the MOA Rally last year in St. Paul on our GSs.

What happened to the practice of smoking the chicken on site? This years menu was not nearly the same

The change this year was a matter of manpower and economics. The overhead required to procure the groceries along with all the other items including facility rental made the change necessary. The manpower required to cook is astounding and with our volunteer pool aging and shrinking we could not continue the old model. So to keep from halting the tradition altogether the club decided to regroup, watch our costs and create a "back to basics" type rally with an emphasis on the location and riding as opposed to eating. It sounds as if you were disappointed and we are sorry to hear that. We have had many who felt this was a great rally in all respects. Now it is time to evaluate this year and determine what changes need to made going forward...including deciding if we are going forward. Thanks for your support of the event, hopefully next year will be even better!

I'm sorry it took so long for me to post this. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the fun I had at the rally. It wasn't perfect, neither am I, but I had a great time. The riding there is fantastic. I saw lots of familiar faces and met lots of new ones. Hope I can continue attending the Great Chicken Rally!
