  • Club Ride Saturday, February 7th

Everyone is welcome to join us for a club ride on Saturday, February 7, 2009

We will meet at Niki’s West on Finley Avenue (across from the farmer’s market) at 7:00 AM for breakfast. We will leave Niki’s at 8:00 AM.

Our first stop will be the Alabama Mining Museum in Dora, AL. (The Museum depicts the development of coal mining from 1890 to 1940. During this period, mining became an important industrial force and the chief source of energy. During this era, coal mining moved from the pick and shovel to machines. In 1984, the Alabama State Senate designated the Alabama Mining Museum as “The Official State Coal Mining Museum of Alabama.”) We will have personal guided tour.

We will then take several back roads that will lead us to “The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery”, three covered bridges, a courthouse, 2 Hallelujah Trail churches, lunch at “Charlie B’s, the famous mineral spring at Bangor, desert & coffee at Big Daddy’s BBQ and lastly ride “The Tail of the Lizard”. Our ride should end around 5:00 PM.

The long range forecast calls for variable clouds and a high of 67, so it should be great riding weather.

    See you then.

Attached is a gbd file of the ride.
