  • January 2d Saturday Ride-2-Eat

    2023’s first 2d Saturday Ride-2-Eat will gather for lunch at the Top Hat Barbecue Restaurant in Hayden, AL (just like last January). Their address: 8725 Old Hwy 31 North. Everyone is free to ride or drive their own route, but the HSV group will arrive at 1100 AM [following the NAVMC Saturday breakfast]. { Garmin says: N33° 55.869' W86° 47.984’ }

    I’m hopeful the weather will at least be dry, if not moderate. Although the weather forecast for Christmas is going to be brutal for the entire eastern half of the US!

    Hope to see a few enthusiastic BMW owners on January 14th in Hayden for a tasty BBQ lunch!

    So I plan the monthly Rides-to-Eat; I can’t control the weather! I’ll get busy on deciding February’s destination ASAP!

    Like last January, the MOAL regulars were in attendance. Phil & Karen rode themselves to breakfast in HSV at ~30F before departing Murphy’s Gas at 0900. No locals were dedicated to commit for this particular ride along many county roads. Jim McCorsten had a shorter ride from his home (
    as I prompted him to ‘be sensible'). Pam & Tom RSVP’d and also arrived together in their car down I-65. And today’s MVP was Paul Thorne who had the longest ride {to-eat-vegetables} at the Top Hat BBQ on a very cold morning in mid-January, 2023.

    Hope to see a few more familiar faces at the Hampton Inn at Eagle Point in 2-weeks (28th)! We need to elect some Club Officers so we could use a good turnout. Business to commence at 3pm in the hotel meeting room. Also need to accept and/or improve the new 2023 club By-Laws as scrutinized and edited by selected volunteers in November at the Lake Shore Inn & fishing resort. And we should project our 2023 social gatherings (as is the custom).

    Here’s a shot of Mdm Secretary in front of the Top Hat. If it’s good enuf for the Blount County Sheriffs, then I’m cool with that!
