  • Nate Kern-Barbers this weekend and Aug 9th

Nate just called me a few minutes ago. Most of us already plan to go to the races at Barber's on Aug. 9th weekend to see him, support him, and help him out............

However, he just told me that he will be there this weekend for a "ride" day.

He plans to install a seat on his race bike and take people for rides around the track. Trust me................he took me about 10 laps one time and it's a real thrill !!!

I told him that unfortunately, myself, and most of the ones he knows in the club were committed to the monthly meeting in Guntersville and wouldn't see him this weekend. He remembered Vance telling him about it while in Gilette.

BUT ............if you are not going to the meeting, please go out to Barber's and hang with Nate. There is no fee this weekend as he understands it so it shouldn't cost you anything to get in.

If you want to ask him to take you for a ride, make sure you have all the proper gear. No jeans, must have full face helmet, gloves, full riding suit of some type and boots. And pay close attention when he explains how to ride behind him. It's not the same as riding passenger on the highway and it's possibly thebiggest thrill you'll ever get !!! Whoo hoo !!!!!

Even if you don't ride with him on the track, just go out there and hang out with him. Nate loves people to be around.

The ride with Nate sounds awe sum. I road several laps around Road Atlanta behind Reg Pridmore back in 1993 on a R1100RS. You won't forget the experience. I was talking the CLASS course at the time. They had turned the field lose for hot laps. In 2-3 laps he must of passed 20 bikes (mostly in the corners) riding with substantial "me" on the back. I will never forget that ride.

Yep, passing 20 or so bikes, several times. Sounds familiar.....Vance and Mari were watching, and Vance asked me if I knew it.... hahaha, he was being funny.

What I remember most about the ride was:

        1. Because of my size Reggie told me to set still and not move around.

        2. His shifting was so smooth. The engine noise/pitch was the only way you knew he had shifted the bike. All of his actions were very smooth.
