  • May Actual MOAL Business Meeting

May MOAL Business Meeting relocated to Pickwick Landing State Park in southern Tenn.

Haley Newton at Joe Wheeler State Park informed me on 24Feb that their ongoing rehabilitation projects won’t allow them to open up camping or reservations until Fall. I therefore have reserved an outdoor pavilion for the scheduled May 22nd Business Meeting at Pickwick Landing State Park in southern Tennessee [about 120 mi from HSV]. It has all the amenities we were seeking at Joe Wheeler including: a Lodge with restaurant and an assortment of cabins, campsites, and RV spots next to the Tenn River’s Pickwick Lake & Dam.

Please plan ahead while lodge rooms and campsites are abundant. I booked a campsite for Fri & Sat nights for ~$60 including taxes & fees. For both the Lodge & Camping use this link: https://reserve.tnstateparks.com/pickwick-landing
Follow the selection buttons. I clicked on Friday & Sunday on the calendar to signify my two nite request. It appears our campsite {32} is about a mile from the Lodge/Restaurant along the Pickwick Lake shore.

Address of Pickwick Landing State Park:
    Lodge & Conference Center
    120 Playground Loop
    Counce, TN 38326
    731-689-3135
    Garmin users: N35° 03.299' W88° 14.355'

    Area destinations include:
    R & B`s Bar-B-Que & Restaurant, 7285 Highway 57, Counce, TN (1 mile).
Hampton Inn, Counce, TN (2.5 mile).
Savannah, TN is about 12 mi north of Pickwick.
Shiloh National Military Battlefield is 14 miles northwest of Pickwick.
Corinth, MS, SW of Pickwick Landing (23 mi SW, 30 Min).
Tuscumbia, Helen Keller’s Ivy Green, 300 N Commons St W; (53 mi ESE, 60 min).
Tuscumbia, AL Music Hall of Fame, 617 Hwy 72, (53 mi ESE, 60 min).
Samuel T Bryant Distillery, exit 74 along I-40, Jackson. TN (70 mi NW, 80 min).
Meriwether Lewis Nat’l Mon. along Natchez Trace, Hohenwald, TN (70 mi NE, 80 min).

Please RSVP to Señor Presidente or Mdm Secretary if attending so we can estimate snacks & refreshment quantities.
Let’s hope things will start to feel like spring when May finally rolls around.

    Cheers Y’all,
    Phil & Karen

Hoping to generate some RSVPs Y'all...

Tim recently RSVP'd making a Splendid suggestion. In Honour of the mostly retired Chicken Rally, the BoD will take his suggestion to cater a Chicken Dinner from R&B's BBQ Restaurant down the road in Counce. The plan is to accept a $10 contribution from Meeting attendees, and the club will cover any eXtra costs. This will be a CHICKEN BBQ for MOAL members! Y'all can keep those adult beverages cleverly concealed along with other H/W... I'm told that the Pavilion has a limit of 50 attendees (cause that's what I reserved, what with club event participation currently pretty meager). You get my drift? Thus far, I've got confirmations for 4 members. Don't go inviting all your biker buddies for this business meeting/campout, Por Favor...

That leaves it up to the group of Friday arrivals whether to eat at the Lodge's restaurant or go out to another place
{the Famous Botel across the river seems to be Permanently Closed}. Convenience says simply set up camp and eat off the land!

Hope we can soon start "getting back to normal."
    Happy Trails, Phil & Karen

      Yeah, So?

Any takers for the pre-approved "monthly May Meeting" in southern Tenn?

It is Very Easy indeed to plan a business-meeting/picnic for 10 people....

      RSVPs anyone? Pretty Please...

This summary went out in my earlier eBlast:

Attached is Mdm Secretary’s summary of our Pickwick Dam non-official business meeting since a quorum could not be had. Hope a few more members will participate in July’s scheduled meeting at Vance & Mari’s lake shore hacienda! Don’t forget your bathing suits - it’s liable to be hot at Lake Logan Martin.

Next Ride-2-Eat opportunity for interested MOAL riders will be Team Ager's June "2nd Sat" ride to DaddyBillys in Tullahoma.
Plan to depart HSV around 0920 in time to arrive at lunch by 11:30. An R.S.V.P would be appreciated (to give restaurant a head's up).

Hope all y'all get some riding in this summer!
        Cheers, Phil & Karen
