This forum has been upgraded from version 4.x to version 5.6.4. All current user logins, passwords and topics should have been retained after the upgrade. This was a major upgrade. None of the customizations in v4.x (BMWMOAL logos, etc.) are compatible with v5 so the forum will look pretty generic until your webmaster reads the new documentation.
If you experience any problems, please contact the webmaster with a detailed explanation of the problem.
I had a N103 that was trashed. I am looking at the new N104. Has anyone bought an N104, what are your thoughts? How does it fit compared to an N103?
Thanks,
Erik
I can't help you there but Suz and I have Nolan N102 helmets that we bought through J and M because they sell them with the audio already installed. But first we went to Bogarts and tried new ones on to verify the fit. That is the only way to tell if you are going to like it. Nolans are the heaviest helmets made which I don't particularly like so I have a HJC modular that I wear when riding solo. It is light and comfortable for me and much less expensive than the Nolan. Of course I don't care about having a sound system when solo but I'm sure you do.
Peanut...do you want a flip face or full face? Do you want speakers? Frankly I have bought a BILT explorer dualsport helmet from Cycle Gear that I really like. They are DOT and not Snell rated but I like mine. They have a couple of different street versions available too and they are priced right (I know you'll like that!). They are normally $199 but I think just about all models are on sale for $99. I had no problem installing the Sena SMH10 Bluetooth headset either!!
Just another suggestion...I know I am particular about my helmets in terms of how they fit and feel and not so much about cost. But when you can get a good helmet that fits well and at a good price...that is a deal! Check them out at cyclegear.com

Check them out then at Cycle Gear. Again, I think the stuff is pretty good! Flip Face..full face..they got them all. I especially like the internal flip down sun visor in mine!

Here are two video about the helmet your mentioned... I like this web site for information about any new products... His deals are good as well...but his video are the very best to fully explain the product.
I have a Nolan 104 I bought last year. It's better than the last Nolan I had. The sizing is also different that past Nolans. All previous Nolans I had were size Small, but had to go with a Medium on the 104. I did not spring for the N-Com system at time of purchase, but am possibly considering it in the future. The helmet fit very tight for the first few weeks of use, but has "adjusted" to my head form and isn't bad right now. I did have to smash a small bit of the protective stuff around my ears as that remained tight after break-in. The helmet is a little less noisy than previous Nolans, but not by much. I like the flip down sun visor and use it a lot. I have always ridden with my face shield up in summer months with other helmets, but this doesn't work as good with the 104, as almost any passing vehicle or gust of wind will slam the face shield shut. This is my 4th Nolan, and is probably the best of those.
Erik, I have the Schuberth and am not crazy about it. They take a while to break in even if you forcibly flatten pressure points. My communication part is now inoperable and I have to return it. The helmet is advertised as light and quiet but neither attribute is remarkable to me. I love my Arai but it has been said that you either have the right head shape for an Arai or not - it seems perfect for me.

my helmet is a medium - if you have a smallish head you are welcome to try it, I will be at Chicken rally if I don't see you before then

Eric,
I just bought a Shoei Neotec modular helmet and really like the fit and quality of the helmet. I also have a Shoei Multitec and the Neltec is an improvement in fit and noise level over the Multitec. It's fairly light for a modulat helmet and has the internal flip down sun visor which is very nice on early morning or late afternoon rides when the sun seems to be always right in your eyes.
I had a n104, it is a good model, but very heavy compared to the n103, if you ride long distances it starts to hurt my neck, but the protection is a good option, in general, you should read about it in this site such as allforharley.com there is a lot of information for the bike
