This forum has been upgraded from version 4.x to version 5.6.4. All current user logins, passwords and topics should have been retained after the upgrade. This was a major upgrade. None of the customizations in v4.x (BMWMOAL logos, etc.) are compatible with v5 so the forum will look pretty generic until your webmaster reads the new documentation.

I'm trying to find contact info for a vintage BMW shop that is located in west Georgia, not far from Alabama. I know that its located in a rural area but, I don't remember the exact location or the name of the shop. A friend needs some carb parts and I'm trying to help.

Thanks for the help. If I remember correctly, I met David Woodburn at the Barber Vintage Fest. I'm not a BMW owner and don't know much about them- I'm currently riding an Aprila Tuono. I am going to recommend that my friend join this group. I live in Tuscaloosa and he is in Helena.
We have missed some good riding due to his carb problem. He broke one of the slide needles on his 40mm Bing carbs. He bought the carbs from ebay and they seemed to be a great deal as they were like new for a good price.. We decided that although his bike ran pretty good, it was too rich, so he was going to lower the needles and ended up breaking one. He ordered two new needles and then discovered that his ebay carbs didn't exactly match- they had different slides and the needles were different in how they are held in the slides. Hope that makes sense.
Also, if anyone local has advice or spare parts, let me know. We used up the whole day last Saturday trying to find parts, ect.
Thanks for the quick help. I should introduce myself. I'm not a BMW owner but my friend is. I currently ride an Aprilia Tuono. I'm in Tuscaloosa and he is in Helena.
We used up the whole day last Saturday trying to find a slide needle for a 40mm Bing. Turns out there are two different types of needles and he ended up with one of each on his bike. The carbs are an ebay find and they are in like new condition but they don't exactly match. The bike ran pretty good with the carbs but, we decided it was a little too rich. While moving the needles down, he broke one of the needles.
If any of you local guys has any suggestions or has some spares I'd be greatful to hear from you. we are just trying to get the bike on the road for some of this good weather.

It was great meeting you Gary. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The shop is great. James is set on getting another one of the slides that holds the needle with a screw. Hence the ride to see David Woodburn. We are supposed to go over there this Saturday- not sure if by 2 or 4 wheels, we might take the scenic route by bikes.
Looks like there is some pretty good riding over your way. I grew up in the Birmingham area, south of town, and now live in Tuscaloosa but, I'm not familiar with you're area. I plan on studying the map and riding some of the roads there.
